GPs and Commissioning in the NHS

March 14, 2013

I woke up this morning to hear the news about concerns of possible conflict of interest within the commissioning process for healthcare delivery in the UK about to be rolled out in April this year. I cannot say that I am surprised because the relationship between GPs and private companies has been known for years. However, what is surprising is that safeguards against conflict of interest were not written into the legislation! And I do not mean; leave the room when votes or decisions are made!! There is no doubt that the NHS needs an injection of life based upon innovation and courage but I fear that well intended plans will be sabotaged by this one little oversight! I hope that I am wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!
